The lack of studies published in our country in relation to the subject, makes it very important to determine the prevalence of Oral Candidiasis, the most frequent locations and the appearance of lesions according to the time of HIV diagnosis, in Patients treated at the Infectology Clinic of the Hospital Escuela Oscar Danilo. Rosales Arguello from the city of León. After approval by the Medical Ethics Committee, UNAN León, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, information was collected from a secondary source, with a sample of 150 clinical records of patients, the data of interest included socio-demographic characteristics of the patient, presence, location and classification of Oral Candidiasis. A prevalence of oral candidiasis of 50.6% was found, with the most frequent clinical presentation being Pseudomembranous Candidiasis, in 61.8%; the distribution of the disease was similar in both sexes; of those studied with oral candidiasis, 61.8% presented at least one episode of disease, being higher in the group of 1-5 years of HIV diagnosis. The most frequent location of the lesions was the tongue, followed by the oropharynx. It is concluded that the prevalence of oral candidiasis for this study exceeded 50%, which reaffirms what is expressed in the bibliography as a very frequent disease in HIV+ patients.
