Documentary Material of the General University Archive

Abstract

In the deposit of the Municipal Historical Archive of León (AHML), there are not only handwritten documents, but also national newspapers prior to 1975, vertical archives related to the student movement and university life of UNAN-León (1957-1975 ) and part of the founding books of the library (1860-1935). This documentary material is for restricted consultation, since it is in a delicate state of manipulation or, in other cases, deteriorated. For this reason, the attention is personalized, guided and supervised by the personnel responsible for complying with the conservation regulations. Throughout the year, tourists from European and North American countries who circulate through the corridor of the central building, lovers of literature and history, eager to know our culture and attracted by the body of the Archive, are interested in investigating the content of documents, a moment that we take the opportunity to present a brief historical review, thus providing careful attention to cultural tourism.
