Background: The production of the marine microalga Nannochloropsis oculata is limited by the high cost of traditional enriched culture media. Therefore, it is imperative to identify cost-effective alternative fertilizers that do not compromise its nutritional profile. This research evaluated the effect of three doses of the agricultural fertilizer NPK 13-6-40 on the production of the Nannochloropsis oculata strain, correlating yield with the physicochemical parameters of the culture. Methodology: The experiment lasted 11 days, cultivating the microalga in 14-liter culture units, fertilized with doses of 0.05, 0.10, and 0.20 g. Cell density was monitored daily using a Neubauer chamber. The Kruskal-Wallis test, Duncan's multiple range test, and Pearson correlations were applied to the cell density variable. Results: The 0.10 g dose was found to be significantly higher, reaching a peak of 3,282,363 cells/ml on the fifth day, compared to the lower yields of the
0.05 g and 0.20 g doses. Pearson's correlation analysis demonstrated that pH had a direct and highly significant relationship with cell growth at all doses, while at the 0.20 g dose, ammonium and nitrate levels showed a direct relationship, suggesting nutrient stress. Conclusion: In conclusion, the 0.10 g dose of NPK 13-6-40 optimizes
the productivity of Nannochloropsis oculata, ensuring nutritional balance, with pH being the most determining physicochemical factor in its development.
