Background: Plants provide food and shelter to most phytophagous insects, as well as to predators and parasitoids that provide them with shelter, nectar and pollen. Plants fertilized with synthetic fertilizers tend to be more susceptible to insect attacks because their sap contains more free amino acids and sugars. The objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of fertilization on the phytophagous entomofauna associated with the bean crop. Methodology: an experimental study was carried out with four treatments (synthetic, organic, mixed and control fertilization) and six replicates with a total of 24 bean plants sampled per treatment, which were evaluated for insect incidence, diversity, abundance, richness and reproduction rate. Results: the highest abundance of insects was presented by the synthetic treatment with 14.4, the highest average richness was obtained by the organic treatment with 1.46, and presented the highest incidence of aphids with 96.3 insects per plant. The aphid population increased over time in the control treatment and there was variability in the insect populations. There was a significant difference in the incidence variable and no difference in the increment and abundance variables between treatments. Conclusions: Based on the results obtained, it is recommended to avoid the excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers to prevent the creation of a nutrient imbalance.
