The research deals with the level of community social capital in the San Jerónimo district of the city of León, in 2010. This district is one of the oldest in the northern outskirts of the city with low levels of social progress in relation to other neighborhoods. that arose after it. The objectives focus on the identification of social capital indicators, on the analysis of the factors that limit its development and on the assessment of the possibilities of improving social capital as an asset that facilitates community development. The information was obtained from surveys of heads of families and interviews with community leaders and a representative of the institutions involved. Among the findings in the distribution are: structural isolation, formal traditional structure, conformism, distrust in institutions and, however, an intermediate type of social capital given the high degree of unity and sense of belonging and the remarkable interpersonal relationships, tolerance, solidarity and neighborhood cooperation expressed in a singular cooperative of funeral services and a youth brigade that guarantees the citizen security of the distribution.
